Q: Are you fully licensed and insured?

A: Yes we are fully insured. Our Master’s plumbing license # is P19120. This License covers the plumbing and drain aspect of our business. Our Builders License # is B18804 and covers such work as concrete, waterproofing, basement underpinning and other construction related work.

Q: How do customers know that you truly value honesty and integrity as well as stand by your claims?

A: Open the yellow pages and you will not see a massive advertisement at the front of the book for The Drain Man. Listen to the radio and you will not hear an advertisement for The Drain Man. Turn on your TV and you will not see a advertisement for The Drain Man. What does this mean? We rely on referrals from customers and also more than a dozen contractors. If we do not back up our claims or leave a customer feeling cheated out of there money, then the referral is gone. Our honesty and integrity have to be 100% in order to have been in the business for over 35 years if we were losing referrals.

Q: Why does The Drain Man not spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in advertising?

A: We have been doing this for over thirty five years. During the eighties and early nineties, we were one of the largest advertisers in the GTA. However, this had one massive negative side effect. The cost of this advertising had to be re-generated. Thus, our cost to the consumer went up. In the mid nineties, the massive corporations and American franchises moved in. This further escalated the cost to compete and that again had to be passed on to the consumer. Therefore, we made the decision to move in a different direction and rely on word of mouth referrals. Which has also enabled us to keep costs to our customers lower.

Q: What size snakes do you use?

A: We use the type and size of equipment designed for the job. There are different size snakes just as there are different size pipes. If it is a 4in. drain we are servicing, we use an 11/16in snake. We do not start with a small 1/4in snake, then increase to 3/8, then increase to 1/2, then increase to 5/8 then finally end up at an 11/16 size snake.

Q: Tell me why I should choose you over your competitors. In short, what are the faults of your competitors?

A: We do not believe in running down the competition. We run our business under a code of ethics for professional tradesmen, not businessmen selling products. We will gladly steer clear of the negative slandering between contractors that presently exist.
